The Small Business Guide To Digital Marketing: Part One vol. 2 - Fast Twitch Marketing

Image
Instagram: Fast Twitch Marketing  James Hanway of After August Co When I first logged into Facebook a cruise ship with my grandparents the summer before college I thought it was the hippest and most unique tech experience I'd ever had. Until that moment I had only experienced AIM (AOL Instant Messenger for anyone younger than 30) and the thought of an entire social network only for college kids (which at that moment I still had technically had never been to college) was just the coolest. This was 2005 - a lot has changed since then. Now in 2020 the era of 'fast twitch' marketing is in full swing, and with it has come an entirely new generation of advertising executives. They're called Influencers - and they are a force to be reckoned with.  Scrolling through the Instagram feed requires more and more finesse to decipher what posts are paid ads and which are run by an influencer - and honestly what the actual difference between the two is. A paid ad typically is created

The Small Business Guide To Digital Marketing: Part One

Image
The Small Business Guide To Digital Marketing: Part One James Hanway of  After August Co At this point in our society's technological development it comes as no surprise to learn of the importance of social media marketing. No longer a growing trend, social media marketing has solidified itself as a top tier method of growing brand awareness and distributing information. Tech giants like Facebook ( Instagram ), TikTok, Pinterest , and Twitter hold the keys to the kingdom of digital marketing and trends. As the generation which created the Internet watched their children grow with smart phones, they were quickly supplanted as the population to target for online shopping.  When we started looking into marketing on Instagram and Facebook I did a little research and concluded that instead of paying for generic dissemination I would save my pennies (figuratively - ads on social media cost hundreds or thousands of pennies) and hit the feed to see what organic traffic I could muster on my

The New Normal 6/27/20

See what else we have going on - Visit us on  Etsy We have been doing our best to not leave the house unless we need something; and we have been paying for our physical health and well being with our parental sanity. Our two eldest children, 6 & 7, are far too close in age (and both girls) to be in such close proximity for indeterminate amounts of time. Our Youngest at 18 months (a sweet little maniac boy) is thrilled that everyone is home to play with him all day long.  Whenever anyone leaves we have masks. We wash hands and sanitize. We social distance. A trip for one of us to Michael's for DMC thread or other odds and ends used to be a nice little family outing designed to inspire the craftiness in our girls and replenish our supplies. Now we order online or pickup curbside - often without attaining the required materials and almost never accomplishing the day-saving side quest of a craft project for our children.  For a small family operation this pandemic has given us quit

June 13th 2020 - Amidst Social Unrest and a Global Pandemic - Parents Soldier On

Image
06.13.2020      I will start off this blog entry by stating first and foremost that we at After August Co stand beside good people of all creeds, backgrounds, and nationalities so long as they have love and peace in their hearts. We feel that it is necessary in this vital time in our global history to stand together against injustices of all kinds. As small business owners and parents we must continue to care for our family; we must carry on and provide for those who depend upon us. This does not mean that we will remain silent or complacent to the injustices of global oppression, and we will do what we can to spread love and acceptance in our local community and abroad.       These are unprecedented times. At an age of advanced technology and global social awareness, our society has taken a turn towards the tumultuous. Now in the face of global pandemic we have chosen to stand apart and weaken our capabilities to create a stronger more unified future. Instead, as in the alien invasion

Kanken No. 2 - 15" Laptop - Super Grey - Custom Hand Embroidery by  After August Co   Working with these bags is an absolute DREAM! Fjallraven's patented G-1000 material, while being water resistant and windproof, is soft and easy to embroider. They are a wonderful canvas for hand embroidery!      The fabric allows for much more delicate stitching - satin stitches, which are generally tougher on Classic Kanken material because of its toughness and tendency to bunch, are much more successful on the G-1000 fabric!
